Man Loses Over 200lbs Eating Chocolate

It's an unusual diet tip: when cravings strike, eat chocolate. But, for Peter Ajello of Florida, it worked.

Peter weighed 450lbs at his heaviest, and was consuming a staggering 24,000 calories per day (almost 10 times what the average man needs). His diet consisted mainly of fast food. After suffering a stroke, he realised that his lifestyle was killing him.

He cut out junk food, but allowed himself dark chocolate, because it kept him from binging on other sweet foods:

Every time his will power started to fade he would treat himself to a small square of rich, dark chocolate - just enough to satisfy his sweet cravings.
Peter saw rapid success and, eager to encourage him, his friends bet him $15,000 that he couldn't lose 100lbs in five months, before New Year. And, he did it, though his friends didn't think he would really make it. They even tried to sabotage his efforts when he had a month left to go:
They even hid jam doughnuts in my gym bag - but I was so determined, I threw them straight in the bin... On Christmas day, my family sat round the table eating delicious food. I set up a treadmill in the basement and pounded away all day.
Peter's story offers hope to many would-be dieters:
It's never too late to start. However overweight you are, and however poor your diet, you can change your lifestyle.Including occasional treats - like dark chocolate - is a great idea if it helps you stay focused.Being accountable to friends can keep you on target, even during the holiday season.Money works as a motivator. If you can't persuade friends to put their cash on the line, how about offering to pay them if you fail?
